Dr.
Sundara Murthy is the Founder,
Chairman, President and Chief
Executive Officer of SIGPRO Wireless
Inc. Dr. Murthy also responsible
for Technology Development. He
has over 20 years of Telecommunications
industry experience occupying
a variety of engineering and management
positions.
Industrial Experience:
He gained wide ranging technology/product
development experiences in a number
of areas including Code Division
Multiple Access (CDMA) system
design, signal processing, modem
design, Application Specific Integrated
Circuit (ASIC) specification and
design, and software development
as applicable to wireless and
satellite systems. He has pioneered
CDMA applications to wireless
and satellite systems. Starting
as a Senior Engineer (Miller Communications,
now Calian) in 1982 at he has
held a number of technical and
management positions including
Manager (Telesat), Director (Vistar
Telecom), Chief Architect (COM
DEV), and Vice President (RIM).
He joined Research in Motion (RIM)
as Vice President of the CDMA
Group and left to start SIGPRO
in late 1999. He has received
a number of awards of excellence
including Telesat Canada's prestigious
Award of Excellence for Superlative
Performance for three consecutive
years. He has pioneered many fronts
in satellite/wireless communications.
He has pioneered CDMA applications
to wireless and satellite systems
during late 80s and early 90s.
During mid 90s at COM DEV he initiated,
architectured and spear headed
the design and development of
a programmable ASIC for world's
fastest modem (155 Mbps) for broadband
satellite/wireless systems.
Academic Qualifications:
Dr. Murthy has earned 4 University
Degrees (BS & MS from University
of Madras, M.Tech with Distinction
form Indian Institute of Science,
Bangalore, Ph. D. from University
of Essex, UK), authored about
90 technical papers (journal &
conference), and industrial reports
and invented numerous engineering
techniques, technologies and algorithms.
Professional
Activities: Dr. Murthy has been
an Adjunct Professor 3 Canadian
Universities and Research Collaborator
at one other for about 10 years.
He has served as Technical Editor
for 3 international journals in
wireless and satellite communications.
He was Co-Chair of IEEE's 2nd
Universal Personal Communications
Conference held in Ottawa, during
1992. He has delivered numerous
invited distinguished lectures
and panel presentations around
the globe for abot 20 years. He
has held many honorary positions
including technical advisor, committee
memberships, research advisor
at organizations based in New
York (UNDP), Geneva (ITU), Canada
(NSERC, Micronet, CIDA), USA (NASA
LRC, NASA JPL), India (DoT), Korea
(ETRI).
